ADAS On-Road Test Engineer / Expedition Test Engineer

We are looking for experienced ADAS On-Road Test Engineers to support an upcoming UK driving expedition for the CX1e and CC1e vehicle programs. Both vehicles are built on the SEA 2+ 800V mechanical platform with the ZEEA2.5 electrical architecture. The ADAS sensor configuration includes 7 cameras and 3 radars (7V3R), supported by 12 ultrasonic sensors (USS) for parking functions. ADAS functions are governed by the ADCU (ADAS Domain Control Unit). The assignment will focus on real-world, exploratory on-road ADAS testing in the UK, with an emphasis on identifying issues from a customer-driving perspective, as well as performance and tuning observations. Key Responsibilities

• Provide two engineers per test vehicle:
• 1 engineer for CX1e
• 1 engineer for CC1e
• Plan and execute on-road ADAS testing and expedition activities across the UK.
• Develop route proposals covering:
• Motorways / highways
• Country roads
• Urban environments
• Day and night driving
• Work closely with client to define UK-specific test cases and testing requirements.
• Conduct primarily exploratory testing, driving the vehicles under normal customer-like conditions to identify real-world ADAS issues.
• Evaluate ADAS system performance, behavior, usability and tuning during different road and traffic conditions.
• Identify, document and prioritize issues discovered during driving.
• Use the vehicle's ADAS logging equipment to capture relevant data and evidence.
• Provide daily reports highlighting the most critical/top issues identified during the expedition.
• Prepare a final expedition report summarizing test activities, findings, key issues and observations.
• Support vehicle software updates during the expedition with online assistance from GTEU.
• Provide first-line support for vehicle-related issues during testing and coordinate second-line support with GTEU.
• Adapt testing schedules, routes and working hours when unforeseen situations or project requirements arise.
• Maintain effective communication with GTEU and other project stakeholders throughout the expedition.

GDPR & Data Compliance

• Ensure all collected test data, logs and issue reports are handled in accordance with GDPR requirements.
• Follow agreed anonymization strategies for recorded data.
• Ensure appropriate measures are followed when recording on public roads, including agreed methods of informing people that recording activities are taking place.
• Ensure secure and GDPR-compliant sharing of collected logs and test results with GTEU.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Proven experience in on-road ADAS testing.
• Strong experience with ADAS performance testing, validation and tuning.
• Experience in test planning and execution in expedition / field-testing environments.
• Experience conducting vehicle testing on public roads under real-world driving conditions.
• Ability to identify, analyze and clearly document ADAS system issues.
• Experience working with automotive test vehicles and vehicle data/logging systems.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with engineering and development teams.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing routes, schedules, software updates and unexpected test situations.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, including day and night driving.
• A valid driving license and ability to drive in the UK are required.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

• Experience with ADAS sensor systems, including cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors.
• Experience with ADCU / ADAS Domain Controllers.
• Experience in automotive performance and tuning activities.
• Experience with ADAS logging and data analysis tools.
• Previous experience with UK or European road testing.
• Experience with expedition-based vehicle validation projects.
• Chinese language skills within the team would be an advantage.

Project Coordination

• Coordinate the expedition team and daily activities.
• Act as the primary contact point between the supplier and GTEU.
• Coordinate route planning, schedules, reporting and issue escalation.
• Ensure compliance with agreed testing, GDPR and reporting procedures.
• Manage unexpected changes and ensure the team can respond quickly to emerging project requirements.
