What you'll do

WE ARE HIRING: ACCOUNTANT WITH EXPERIENCE IN GERMAN ACCOUNTING Full-time | Copenhagen, Denmark ABOUT INTERSOURCE Intersource is a privately owned Danish company that sources, operates and markets a portfolio of strong international brands. Our business combines B2B sales to leading retail chains with an omnichannel business within Build-A-Bear, integrating physical stores, e-commerce and other digital sales channels. We are growing and continuously expanding our operations across Europe, particularly in Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DACH). To support our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our finance team at our headquarters in the heart of Copenhagen. In this full-time position, you will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting processes across our DACH entities, with a primary focus on Germany. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely bookkeeping, reconciliations and financial reporting in accordance with local accounting and VAT regulations. You will work closely with our CFO, Financial Controller and local partners in Germany and Austria to ensure efficient financial operations and a solid accounting foundation across our international business. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES As our Accountant, you will take responsibility for the daily bookkeeping and accounting activities of our DACH entities, with a particular focus on Germany. You will have an independent role with responsibility for ensuring the quality of our day-to-day accounting activities while contributing to the development and improvement of our financial processes as the business continues to grow. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing daily bookkeeping and posting financial transactions for our German entity and other DACH entities.
  • Managing and reconciling accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank accounts and other balance sheet items.
  • Handling German VAT (Umsatzsteuer), including preparing VAT returns and coordinating with local tax advisors.
  • Ensuring accurate bookkeeping and accounting in accordance with German accounting regulations and the German Commercial Code (HGB).
  • Preparing payment files and performing first-level approval of payments in our banking systems.
  • Performing ongoing reconciliations of inventory, stock movements and intercompany balances across the group.
  • Managing intercompany invoicing and reconciliation of internal transactions and balances.
  • Participating in month-end closing and preparing accounting information for the group's monthly financial reporting.
  • Preparing accounting documentation for local auditors, tax advisors and other external partners.
  • Maintaining regular communication with our German and Austrian partners regarding bookkeeping, VAT and accounting matters.
  • Developing and improving accounting processes, including system configuration and automation of workflows.
  • Supporting the finance team with ad hoc accounting, finance and administrative tasks.

ABOUT YOU We are looking for an experienced, independent and structured accounting professional with solid experience in German bookkeeping and accounting. Practical experience with German accounting is essential, as you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day bookkeeping of our German entity. You enjoy working independently and taking primary responsibility for your own area while collaborating closely with the wider finance team. You work in a structured manner, take ownership of your responsibilities and have an eye for both the details and the broader financial picture. We expect you to:

  • Have solid experience with end-to-end bookkeeping and practical experience in German bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Have a strong understanding of German accounting regulations (HGB) and German VAT requirements (Umsatzsteuer).
  • Have experience with month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations and preparation of financial statements.
  • Have experience with or knowledge of DATEV. Experience with Uniconta would be an advantage.
  • Have experience working in an international company or managing accounting across multiple legal entities.
  • Be fluent in German and English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Danish is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Be structured, independent and detail-oriented.
  • Be responsible, proactive and comfortable taking ownership of your tasks.
  • Have strong system skills and an interest in developing and optimising accounting processes.

Your educational background is not the deciding factor. What matters most is that you have the necessary practical experience with German bookkeeping and accounting and can manage your responsibilities independently. Experience with Austrian accounting and VAT regulations would be an advantage, but is not required. WHAT WE OFFER At Intersource, you will become part of a growing international company where you will have the opportunity to influence our finance function and take independent responsibility for the accounting activities of our DACH entities. You will join our finance team and work closely with management and our international organisation. We offer:

  • A central role in a growing international company with operations across Europe.
  • Independent responsibility for the accounting activities of our DACH entities, with a particular focus on Germany.
  • Close collaboration with our CFO and the wider finance team.
  • A full-time position (37 hours per week) based at our headquarters in central Copenhagen.
  • A dynamic working environment with short decision-making processes and the opportunity to influence and develop our financial operations.
  • Competitive salary and attractive employee benefits.
